An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced GCSE Biology Teacher to join a Further Education College in Mansfield, delivering high‑quality learning experiences to students on T Level Foundation and T Level Health programmes.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, delivery and formative assessment of GCSE Biology and Science units. You will play a key role in shaping learners’ understanding of core scientific principles while supporting their progression into health-related pathways.

This full-time teaching role includes 828 delivery hours per academic year and requires a flexible, professional approach aligned with the organisation’s values of Respect, Ambition, Integrity, Collaboration and Compassion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging GCSE Biology and Science lessons in line with awarding body requirements.

  • Develop high-quality learning resources and ensure consistency in teaching, learning and assessment.

  • Maintain excellent classroom management and follow behaviour policies.

  • Use data and assessment to improve student performance and success rates.

  • Prepare learners thoroughly for external examinations.

  • Complete marking, documentation and administrative tasks accurately and on time.

  • Participate in CPD and stay up to date with curriculum developments.

  • Contribute to programme reviews and quality processes.

  • Uphold safeguarding, Equality & Diversity, and Health & Safety standards.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Science/Biology (minimum).

  • Teaching qualification (DTLLS, Cert Ed, PGCE or equivalent).

  • Experience delivering GCSE Biology in FE, school or sixth form.

  • Experience delivering Anatomy & Physiology.

  • Ability to design effective learning materials and provide constructive feedback.

  • Strong communication, organisational and relationship‑building skills.

  • Experience using ILT to support learning.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.

Desirable

  • Master’s degree in Biology or related subject.

  • Experience delivering practical lab-based activities.

  • Evidence of supporting or mentoring students.

Salary & Benefits

  • £31,000 – £41,616 per annum (Delivery Scale).

  • 44 days annual leave (including bank holidays and concessionary days).

  • 37 hours per week, worked flexibly.

  • Travel between sites may be required.
